Breakthru for alkalines will increase performance...

It's nothing new. If that patent app gets approved, it would be yet another failure of the US patent system. Bismuth / Aluminum / Indium zinc alloys (referenced in the patent) have been used for years in the battery industry. They tend to extend cell life in constant resistance applications, but don't perform as well as Lead containing alloys in constant current or constant power applications. Also, the 10-40 wt% of particles less than 75 micron is covered by a Duracell patent.
 
An improvement is reliability and leak resistance would be preferred by this user. I can count on a couple cells out of 12 - 24 pieces to quickly fail, leak or both...all brands.

I hate alkies for the same reasons, and the maddening slow but noticable down hill discharge. It's nimh's and lith's for me now. VDG
