I picked up 3 of these lights today from walmart. I thought they would be a nice gift for my dad and grandpa for fathers day since they were cheap and come with batteries. I opened mine in the car and it worked fine. When I gave the one to my grandpa we put the batteries in and it wouldn't work! I tapped the top of the flashlight against my hand a few times and got it working but it crapped out again. I thought this was really weird. just the other day my grandpa was telling me how everything he has ever bought from walmart either didn't work or didn't last very long and then out of all the 3 flashlights he gets the one that didn't work. is this just my bad luck? I read a few posts about these lights and people say there reasonably durable. anyone else had this happen? maybe it was bad from the factory. i dont see how it could of been damage in shipping unless it got smacked really hard.

I had a similar probelm - I found that if I tighten the light a bit further the light would come on. That is to say, it just need a bit of a twist.

BTW- maybe durable is not the best word!

it seems that may have been the problem, i just put the batteries back in it and as i tighten it the light will go on and off. maybe when i tapped on it i tightened it up or something. oh well im gonna see if the others do the same thing.

i've had the same "problem" with mine.(i have 3 also). i like the lights a lot but they are a bit finicky about how tight or loose you screw them together. once you find the right spot you're problems should be over

The way the switch contacts the "guts" may be the problem.

Look down in the tailpiece. Make a hook out of a paperclip and pull up the two contacts slightly.

To test it out, put it back together. Turn on the switch and unscrew the tailpiece. It should be able to be unscrewed almost 90 degrees before the light goes out. Then another 90 degrees it should turn back on again.

Hope this helps.

they all seem to be working fine. they just needed to be tightened down a little. this light is really cool. it has to be the best flashlight you can get for under 12 bucks.

my efforts to correct a couple negatives on craigs review, lack of lanyard and/or anti roll fin. i've found that simply finding your choice of lanyard material, and a piece of wire tie through it, tightened around the rubber base and snugged up tightly . snip off the excess and the remaining "buckle" makes for a small but functional anti roll fin. now you have lanyard, fin, and a homely looking but very functional, cheap (if you can get one) led spotlight!

I just found another option... the lanyard assembly you can get for the Bison 2C Sportslight will fit the Brinkmann as well.
With this lanyard, you can use the clip to carry it on a belt loop, and have a lanyard/strap to keep the light from falling from your hands during use.

Guess what?
Yup... looks like it's picture taking time.

Well, looks like my camera just bit it.
The picture on the LCD is all wobbly and full of moving purple and green lines... ouch!!

Made a new LED convert the other day thanks to the Brinkman. Was traveling on business with an associate and we stopped at Walmart. I suggested he buy the Brinkman (at only $12 it's an easy sell) and he did. Next morning said he really liked the light. After I showed him the PAL he wanted one of those as well.

Gotta spread the word. The more people that buy LED lights, the lower prices will go and we'll see more new designs.

Guess the sensor still works... just have to shoot blind.

This lanyard has a thick, beefy rubber ring you pull over the flashlight body.
The strap itself is a stretchy material, and the swivel clip can be attached to keys, belt loops, D-rings, and other similar fasteners.

since your talking about lanyards where is a good place to buy them? i noticed theledlight.com had a glow in the dark for sale but it doesnt show how it hooks together and i think its like 5 bucks for shipping. which would be silly if i bought a 75 cent string. i think the lanyard on the infinity is cool and i would like one for my plw-3 i bought.

well ive only been interested in these lights for a month and I've bought an infinity, plw-3, 3 of the brinkman lights, and I have a photon 3 on order.

great job as usual craig, way more professional looking. by the way, a co-worker said he saw mag-lite led lite at home depot? went today and saw none! did mag-lite finally see the potential of led technology????
