I have the above light that I had since I was a child. The reflector is in pieces and the switch where the bulb goes on seems loose/bad. I called brinkmann with no success. This light looks and works exactly like a mini mag but not sure if the parts work the same or not.

I had this light for so long that I want to keep it useable and maybe upgrade it a bit at an economical price.

Any ideas? Thoughts? Solutions?

I would say buy a new red mini mag and start from there. It may be nostalgic but if the parts won't swap with a minimag then you will not be able to fix it without finding another brinkman. I have a brinkman incan but it seems to have a different looking reflector but the head screws right on the minimag and the threads on the head end of the tube look identical but the minimag tailcap doesn't screw on the brinkmann but the brinkmann tube is damaged on the inside threads.
 
Stopped at Lowes today. Picked up a Nite eye? clicky tailcap and LED bulb and reflector kit. It did not work in the Brinkmann. As stated tail cap different threads and the switch that hold the bulb was different.

So put this kit in my MiniMag and took out the reflector and put it in the Brinkmann. It seems to work "ok" still need a new bulb holder/switch but all in all got it working and have a LED MiniMag.

Now onto upgrading the G2 when it gets here.
 
It is possible the bulb holder/switch in the minimag would swap out. I didn't look very carefully but it looked like the body at top of the brinkmann and minimag could be the same (metal tube).
 
Its possible but I dont know how to take the bulb holder out of the minimag to see.

Edit: ebay has a switch for $8 maglight sells them with tool for $12 shipped......getting to costly for a cheap light.

I am sure someone has taken one apart and documented it online I have taken one apart but don't remember how I did it now.

  1. Remove the head and batteries and reinstall tailcap.
  2. Remove the plastic piece that says "do not remove" (or something like that). Just pull, but watch out for the bulb contacts -- sometimes one of them goes flying when it comes apart.
  3. Remove the tailcap and the remainder of the switch falls out the battery compartment.
