Good Evening, I own a Brinkmann MaxFire LX,

Here's a technical description, Tactical Incandescent Flashlights Handheld Flashlight, CR123 Lithium Battery Size, Number of Batteries 2, Batteries Included, 70 Min Battery Burn Time, Length 5.25 In, Dia 1.25 In, 41,000 Candle Power, 60 Lumens, 6V High Pressure Xenon Lamp Type, Lamp Life 15 Hours, Body Color Black, Body Material Nylon Plastic, Switch Type Push On/Off, Tempered Glass Lens

And It's my favorite little flashlight. Anyhow, the batteries on it are gone, so I am now trying to figure out what are the best batteries and where to purchase them. Basically to save money, I want to purchase rechargeable cells, and a charger. I read and researched all the AW, UltraFire, SureFire, Tenergy, etc, etc. But quite honestly I am not sure which I should pick. I don't want to break the bank and would prefer to stay under $20 with batteries and charger and shipping included (and spacers if need be).

I don't mind waiting, aka waiting 2-3 weeks from Deal Extreme, etc... I originally thought of purchasing http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.8683 and http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.936 I noticed alot of recommendations for http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.1251 yet some people say to stay away from spacers, which would be needed in this case. Anyhow, I just need something that is cost effective, will last a long time, and I won't hopefully have buyers remorse. I don't mind paying a bit more for peace of mind, and if that will make it last longer, but I also don't want to waste money. This is just my hand flash light, I use to light up dark places in my projects. Thanks in advance! And I apologize if I placed this in the wrong forum, seems like this is the place though. -PC

Well first off, welcome to Candlepower Forums.

Second, you'll need a different bulb for rechargeable batteries. Lumens Factory makes a couple, and the Surefire P90 will work fine on two of AW's red-label IMR batteries. Brighter, but less runtime.

Mods, you may want to move this to the incandescent section, as there's going to be a bit of discussion of the bulbs recommended for this thing here.

Third, our AW makes some of the best lithium batteries on the market now. https://www.4sevens.com/index.php?cPath=53_57

By the way - nice choice of light, that's a great entry level pocket rocket you've got there. You'll find brighter, and smaller, but that is an excellent combination of bright, cheap, small, and durable. I'm sorry they're so hard to come by these days.

Thanks for the welcome and for the info, and indeed, I am very satisfied with it. For now due to budget, I opted to go with the 4sevens RC123 batteries,

I will look into modding, as I am no stranger to that in electronics, though I wonder, would it be better to keep this one stock, and purchasing a newer light to tinker with?

And as far as design, this thing is awesome, I love its rubber grip, easy to use, power is located in the right place, and the light was astounding.

Thanks again! And I look forward to doing some projects here :)

So which lamp did you decide to go with?

Thus far just using the stock Brinkmann one, I got my 4Sevens, CR123A's and its working great. In the near future, I will try out new lamps, and customizing, but for now fits my needs, takes for the info :).

I'll in the future do a custom one, that can take rechargeable, etc.
