I had bought a 2L Maxfire perhaps a month or two ago.

I certainly doesn't have more that 10 minutes on it, and perhaps as little as 5.

Last night I did a totally irrational thing and bought a rechargable Maxfire. After charging the battery stick for some 10.5 hours, it has perhaps 2 minutes on it (waiting for dark!).

I just shined both on the dreaded white wall.

The rechargable light blows the 2L light away! It's prefocus is a smidgen or two tighter than the 2L. And the beam is ever so much whiter. The R light beam walks right over the L light!

>goes to get two new SF 123s> ...

Nope! The rechargable light SMOKES the 2L light!

COOL!!! Guilt free brightness! With a respectable beam!

I already tried, it will belt carry in a Garrity holster I chopped for a Stinger.

Dont'cha love it when something works out? I do!!!!

I don't feel as bad about spending $27.05 last night!

Will TRY to do beam shots....

Hay PBJS, you're lucky to even have them to buy, we got nuthin' like that over here! Brinkmann is only known as the BBQ grill maker here!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crackup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crackup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crackup.gif

Serious!

I could email you a couple pics, if you would PM me an addy... to show size, and beam. These lights aren't the end all be all by any means. But they aren't bad for a poormans budget. The 2L is roughly G2 dimensions.

If you wanted one of these, we could work it out!

I know you have Walmart right?

I presume no Academy Sports?

Maybe you're lucky!

Hey, PBJS, where did you find those lights? I could use a decent rechargeable light. Thanks for posting the info, BTW.

Academy Sports and Outdoors Krakoa.

They have both the 2L and Rechargable Maxfires... Some have X5 sometimes... Some have Black Ice lights by Browning... and S&W 2AA 3LED lights that look a lot like Dorcy LED lights.

Understand about this light. It has a rubber grip that some people don't like. It is nonadjustable (but I made a slight difference in focus with a shim cut from an index card) and you take the battery stick out to charge it alone (and the tailcap feels somewhat insubstancial). And it doesn't come with a holster.
It's about an inch or a little more longer than a 2L light.

Still, for $27 with tax, one could do much worse.

I bought one also about 4 months ago because it was cheap and rechargeable. It is he**a bright light!! I returned it the next day though because it only runs for about 40 minutes and the charge time is unbearable compared to runtime. If you built your own battery sticks out of nimh or bought a few extra batteries and chargers from the company (good luck) it might have been worth it to me. Also I only found replacement bulbs from the manufacturer. Good luck with that too, very long wait time for shipments from what I found out. Still, if you can live with that, it is one heck of a bright, cheap light with a very nice beam.

Hey, PlayboyJoe,
What took ya so long?
I have had both of my Brinkmann lights for a few months now!

I love them both, too. Here is a tip though, I charged my stick a few weeks back, and put it in the light and had it in one of my backpacks. Left it there unattended for about 2 weeks. When I went to go use it, it gave me about 3 seconds of light and went total dead. After I recharged it, it was just fine, with peak performance. However, I just wanted to throw out the warning about the stick going dead if unused.

As far as carry duty, I bought one of these. Nite Ize Ring

I also got this at Academy sports for about $3.99. I got the black version, and it looks pretty darn cool on there. It is really handy, too.

Thanks for the reply! I might have to check those out for a tightwad friend of mine. He can't see the logic in spending much more than $20 on anything except maybe video games, but needs a decent rechargeable. Anyway, thanks again.

Ok,

After reading this post, it took me a while to figure out where to get a rechargeable reasonably locally.

Bought on yesterday.

Decent little light, not as bright as my Brinkmann modded with a P60, but pretty cool for a rechargeable.

I think I will order some Nimh 2/3A's from BatteryStation and see if that brightens it up some!

Bill
