My dad has been looking to spend about $40 on a spotlight. He went to local store and was sending me pics of ones they had. So before he blows his money I thought I would come here

i know for $40 he isn't going to get a great light. I tried to show him a crelant for $75 he doesn't want to spend it

i have a cheap $8 dorcy that has been everything they claimed IMO so I told him I would at least get the dorcy spotlight $43 claiming 500 lumen 500ft any suggestions or thoughts on the dorcy?

The Fat Max or B&D spotlight with the L-ion battery seems to be decent for $48. Supposed to be good for an hour on high and seven on low. I use mine for spotting deer in the woods when I take my dog out at night.

Available at WalMart.

It's not waterproof if that's a requirement.
 
What are the all around requirements for the light? i.e., Runtime, weight or size, rechargeable or throw away, user interface, Color rendition, throw or spill, LED, Incan or HID, ect.
LED is great for runtime and durability as well as they are usually fairly lightweight but often have poor throw and color unless a little wallet stretching occurs.
Incan is good for most color but runtime suffers as well as lumen output but replacement parts are readily available.
HID is best for the throw/lumen output + Color but runtime and weight often suffer, as well as wallet.
Walmart and most other big box stores will have a wide selection to choose from in all categories except HID.
all of these have their +'s & -'s in each category, so i suggest taking the time to go in and look at them personally, take the time to read over them, pick your top 5 then if you're still in question, list them here and we will do our best to help suggest one for you.

It's not a spot light but I think I found the answer and I don't know how I overlooked it

Crelant V9-T6 $33 650 lumens is plenty and a review said 275 meters which is good enough
