Bushed aluminium maglite

Today i found an old aa maglite. It is very scratched up and was wanting to just remove all the paint and almost give it a brushed aluminum look, Any recommendations as to how to do this? I was thinking about buying a cheap sandblasting air compressor attachment. Any advice would be appreciated.

sandpaper will do it, then steel wool and aluminum polish to shine it up... Gonna have to put a coat of something on it, otherwise it'll oxidize and get dull looking.
