Busted my KL1...

Well i unscrewed, the front end off my KL1 and broke the connection on one of the lead wires goin to the luxeon. Now that it is "disassembled" what else do i need to do to it to get a 5w in there... I figure i may as well retrofit a white 5w while it's apart. Also, what is the runtime of a 5w in an E2e body? Where can i get a GOOD 5w white luxeon?

Been there, done that...

Actually there is more to it than just changing the LS.

1. The drive voltage will need to be changed.

2. The drive current will need to be changed.

If you just swap the LS for a 5W, then you will get the same , or even less light than from the 1W.

Those doing the mod usually use a dat-to-zip sandwich running on 700mA or 750mA to replace the existing electronics.

You will also need to determine if it will work at all on 6v (2x123).

The mod was extremely well documented.
Its been a while though.
Anyone remember where that was?

where can i pick up a good bin luxeon (color & brightness)?
