buying a good BINNED U2??????????

Im still interested in buying a U2, but for some reason I think all I would get from this forum is bad handmedowns....
I was thinking the best place a on site comparisons is a gun show. Ive only seen 2 in person, and both were not as bright as a L5... what todo

I bought my U2 with low hours from someone on this forum. it's very close to perfect.

The flux issue has been beat to death!!! truth is very few people have the ability to determind lumens with any degree of accuracy.

I personally think that you are better off buying on off cpf. that way you can ask pointed question before buying.

1. is it bright & white?
2. is it white on all levels
3. will it run on level six with pila
4. how is the focus? is there a donut past a few feet?
5. how is the switch?
6. how is the selector ring action?

the last two can be fixed very easily, but the others requires a trip back to surefire.

No one not even surefire is immune from the luxeon lottery. There is no excuse for the tailcap problems. However surefire is sending new tailcaps without a trip back.

sticky selector ring is easily fixed by placing a dab of conductive silicon grease in gap of selector ring.

According to surefire focus problems is partially caused by luxeon radiating differently from luxeon to luxeon.

not sure I buy that one.
