Camcorder batteries

Help Support Candle Power:

Hello Andy,

Welcome to CPF.

It looks like you have a 2S battery pack. If you add another 2 cells you are going to have to come up with a way to package it so that it will fit the camcorder.

There is no problem adding cells, but you need to incorporate a way to balance the cells within the pack. Cells in parallel will self balance so you only have to worry about the cells in series.

Your 7.2 V / 3.800 mA is a 6-cell.
If I had to guess --> made with 18500 cells in a 2S / 3P configuration.

Sure You can add cells, but You will be better, safer and cheaper of, getting a new one.
Such a pack costs something like 15,--, so cheaper than any 2 cells You get + in a better condition than the cells You have present yet.

If the possibility is here - when there is enough room at the top side at camera and charger - getting a pack made with 18650 were the best.
A simple 2S / 2P is lighter + packs more energy than the 6 cell BN-V428U.
Something like Canon BP945 (while I do not know if that one fits Your JVC model, but there are comparable ones, You just have to find)

Hi,
Thanks for the replies and the welcome to CPF.

I can get a brand new standard battery for 12 pound. I'll have a look around for other batteries that could work.

thanks
