Can 9 LED light work without carrier?

Can the light work without the battery carrier in place? My carrier broke, but I kind of like the light. Is there another kind of battery that can be inserted without the carrier?

Physically the cell may fit, either an 18650 or 18500 is your best bet with a little paper to shim the circumference, but the LEDs will overheat and slowly one by one go out.

I use an 18650 in a multi-LED showerhead, it just drops right in, but th eLEDs are slowly dieing.

Hmmm....probably not a good idea then if it will eventually kill the light. I may end up just buying new light, and then use its carrier to supply my current light when the LEDs die in the new one. At least the things are really cheap.

Generally the best advice is to simply not use 3xAAA lights if you can help it. They have nothing but downsides, and no practical benefit.

The failure of one is an excellent excuse to move onto better made lights.
