I know this is not related to flashlight batteries but I was wondering if button cells can leak if stored for long periods in something and explode if shorted. I short them a lot by accident installing them because the negative and positive are less tham a mm apart and they both end up touching a metal contact at the same time. Also, are lithium button cells as dangerous as li ion cells. If they leak are they highly toxic and can they explode violently if shorted?
