What are you guys/gals using for cases? I have a slew of 18650 sized lights.

I have a medium size plastic pistol case with the upper and lower foam, but I'd like to upgrade to a metal utility case with foam that's cut out for each light.

Gimme your ideas!!

The metal breifcases go on sale at lowes and home depot all the time for under $30. I used one of those for my knife collection (perforated foam, just press down the area you want recessed) until replacing it with a Pelican case.

Does it need to be waterproof? I have only once (on a 6-day canoe/hike/portage trip) ever needed the weight and bulk of a Pelican case. For light transport like to throw a few lights in your big duffle and not worry about your lights being damaged and to keep them in one place, I got the cheapest case at Plasticase.com. I got a nice mini case there for $20.38 shipped with cubed foam insert. No. 641 Mini kitcase. 1-7/8" x 6" x 9-1/4" inside fits five 2xCR123/18650 lights. I usually carry two or three 18650 lights plus two or three single cell lights plus extra cells and accessories like diffusers.
They also have medium duty (~$28 shipped for a lunchbox sized (6.5x9x3.25" inside) med duty with foam insert) and Pelican like heavy duty cases, but then you might as well get a Pelican.

I have no connection with this company besides having found them to be a good value for a lightweight protective case. I take my 641 mini case on any car trip I go on.

DX sells "Topfire" cases that hold either 2-18650s or 4-CR123s. They claim to be IPX6 rated, but really, they're water resistant, as the silicon seal on the lid doesn't seal well enough to be immersion proof. Should be good enough to keep out the rain though.
