Hi guys!
Just wanted to let you know that I changed the focus of my E2 for more spot succesfully, what I did was shorten the thickness of the lamp base about 0.5 to 0.75 of a millimiter with a file and a lansky sharpener. Of course this was done on the plastic side checking for optimum spot focus several times during the procedure.
It now has a spot norrower than my Scorpion on full spot and throws farther and has an acceptable corona so I can see my sorrundings also. compared to the original E2 beam it is about 25-35% norrower, I didn`t want to file some more since it is about right for my uses and didn`t want to compromise the structural integrity of the plastic.
I wonder why surefire doesn`t market a lamp focused for spot and another for regular beam or flood, or better yet, have one lamp and and a metal washer(s) like the ones used in carley bulbs for a user adjustable beam.
Just my $0.02
