Just want to ask the battery experts a last question in this thread.
When you charge a car battery with a 4 amp charger, and the charger stops at one hour, how much charge actually went into the battery? This is perhaps a tricky question as a charger charges at a lesser rate the more the battery will reach it's full charge.

If your car battery was discharged before you charge it, almost the entire 4Ah will go into charging it. If it's almost full, very little will go into charging it, and instead just go into heating and/or boiling the electrolyte. (Or splitting the water molecules, whatever it does when it hisses.)
