I have a MAHA MH-C204F charger, which is around 2 years old, and is at least a little smart.

Is there any way to charge one battery in it.

I could cut a piece of steel rod to the size of a AA, but Im' not sure what the charger would "think" of that.

Just wondering.

Nope. Best plan is to buy two cells, charge 'em in pairs, use 'em one at a time. Be sure they're both discharged to the same degree.

This is a big factor in the popularity of individual channel chargers.

Or use a parallel charger. My old Maha gave me fits when I only needed to charge one battery for a single AA light. My parallel charger is easy compared to the old Maha for charging individual cells.

If the charger really charges in parallel (some actually charge in series even though the orientation looks parallel), what would be the effect if you hooked up the second charging point in parallel to the first?

I'm guessing the charger would think the cell had twice the resistance and half the capacity from what it was expecting. Would the cell charge up in half the time, or would something blow up?

I hope someone with more knowledge can give some input about this arrangement.
