How often should AW18500's be charged used in a Dereelight xml that is used daily, I have been charging when they hit 3.9 v????
I have AW 2900 protected, check them maybe twice a month, these are in 2 cell lights.. Usually sitting 3.4 to 3.8vdc so I put them in the Pila to top them up. I also run AW IMR 16340 which are unprotected. I accidentally left a light on until it was dead. The 16340 read .49vdc so I am thinking that protection circuit in the light cut off the power? Anyways it charged up no problem. My UF 2600 protected run until they quit, usually about 2.8vdc and have always recharged properly. These get used in single cell beater UF lights that are stashed in convenient places so they rarely get checked. I don't think you are hurting the cells by topping up regularly, you might get a few less charge cycles but not enough to worry about IMO.
Yeah you probably toasted that battery. I guess if it's working that's okay but keep an eye out for it. Since it's an IMR, it should be okay, and may have only suffered capacity reduction.IMR has no PCB
