Absolutely no tech information tho /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

*Edit*
just came across
these
li-ion 17650 cells (no securtiy) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif
Olivier

I asked him about these batteries,
he claims these are the same as wolfeyes/pila,
and he responded that the pilas have no protection
circuit in them and there is no need for one.

Hey Dukeleto,

I think Pilas are better than these. And for about the same cost with protection circuit. I am an unconditional Pila's user, thanks to JonSydneyB /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Pyro, did you mention you know what you're talking about? Seems like this guy wants to fool buyers.

Perhaps someone should tell ebay about this. He is lying (or does not know what he is selling) about his products and uninformed users of this cells could be harmed.

I read through his descriptions and am sure to keep my fingers off of that - it doesn't all fit together very nicely. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif

I am not really sure if it is dangerous to use the cells without protection in the lights, cell life is reduced due to deep discharge for sure.

Fact is that the cells he sells are bare Li-Ions, although he states them to be the same as WolfEyes (pila) 168B,
and that is simply a lie, i won´t buy anything from such a person

This was my first thought when I saw the ebay pictures, but it seems like the wires are soldered at different points. I'm not quite sure it's the same circuit, anyway I wouldn't buy anything from this guy.

So, a guy trusting him could by this cheaper 'WolfEye clone', put it in the wrong sort of charger (on the assumption that the missing protection circuit will protect the cell *just like the WolfEyes he already is using*) and become an exercise for the local fire department and a story for the morning news?

Criminal comes to mind....... Lying about safety features the customer has no way to verify for personal profit should put you in the Big House.

Or so I see it.

he even recommends the wolf eyes charger,
besides various selfmade things, some of
them sound really like adventurously, but
i´m no expert and can´t telli if they are
suited to charge the cells safely

Exactly the point I was trying to make. This guy has *no* control over how folks are likely to try to charge these cells, they are very likely to take him at his word and treat them just like the (protected) ones he's said they're equal to.

In thinking a bit more, perhaps 'criminal' is too mild a term for someone who places unknown persons at such risks. These things can be *bombs* if mistreated, and we have a name for folks that send bombs to unsuspecting people.....

Re: Dangerous german product....

He wrote me that as long as nobody shows him the WolfsEyes protecting circuit he does not believe it.
And he quoted another dealers warning as a proof that the Pila/WolfsEyes have no circuit. Funny .-)

Re: Dangerous german product....

It is always clever to point your finger at others while trying to avoid any trouble - we should get JSB to take a picture of the protection circuit. I'll contact him.

Excellent observation. Transfer the attention.

'Honest, officer, I wasn't speeding....but I passed a couple of guys back there that were....'.

FWIW, I don't think he's really interested in facts?

Bummer is folks could be seriously hurt by this clown's games.

Re: Dangerous german product....

Hello,

Sounds nasty.
BTW, has anyone ever seen one of these explode?

Take care,
Al

Re: Dangerous german product....

I know that someone has taken the circuit out of an Pila. I am not sure what this person did with it. One of the CPFers posted a picture of an exploding bare cell and PK has told me that he has witnessed an exploding bare cell. I have no dead Pila cells but I will work on trying to get one.

Re: Dangerous german product....

Thanks, JonS, for chimming in here.

I somehow have got the feeling that this guy won't be impressed if we send him the picture with the circuit but instead just ignore us. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Re: Dangerous german product....

Well, as far as I can see, it's pretty useless to argue with this guy. Perhaps someone should inform ebay about this. They don't allow to sell potentially dangerous (explosives or things that can cause fire) on ebay.de. I would do this but I think it should be someone who has already talked to the guy about this cells.

Re: Dangerous german product....

Hi again,

Yeah, i had a similar idea...
i was wondering how bad these things explode, and
someone could write to him and make sure he knows
the dangers involved.
I never had one explode, but then i have a special
charger that limits current...

Take care,
Al
