Hello - fairly new to flashlights and have a general question. Do the cheap off brand lights typically have pwm AND are they worth the risk of purchase??? I don't want to see flicker (most anoying thing about my other light hobby - gas lanterns) and I would rather pay a little extra to have the better regulation. Are there good "cheap" brands out there?
Thanks in advance

At the top of the forum section is a checklist. Might want to fill it out and define usage and your own definition of cheap. As that very from person to person. Not to mention your choice of battery as that will affect the choice and cost as well.

See the checklist like Vortus mentioned. But I always like to promote the L3 Illuminations L10 with Nichia 219. I don't like calling it "cheap" since it's such a nice light. One AA battery, chose from 3 or 4 modes, chose from 3 different emitters, small, basic twist UI, nice semi-floody beam all for $20-$25.

Yeah, the L10 is a great little light with no pwm and other nice features for the price. If I was shroomin, I imagine pwm would freak me out too.

Shining beam is always a good source for budget lights that are selected for higher quality, and check out CPF Marketplace for good deals on quality pre-owned lights from members.
