This truly sucks! Not that long ago I was getting Sanyos from them for much less; I think it was $1.50 or $1.59. Now they want $1.83. That's bad enough, but I think Artie Choke is right; they've become strictly a wholesale house.
I tried calling them just now, unsuccessfully due to their rather restrictive office hours.
Perhaps if we represent ourselves as belonging to a 1200 member organization that will have some effect.

OK, SCR****ED again! You know, it might actually be cost effective to get Surefire
123a's. If you use a lot of these you might eventually break even because of their significant run time advantage over Sanyo (the worst, IMHO).
The best deal on lithium AA's was the one I got from Tim Flanagan. Seven dollars for a 4-pack! He had bought out all the Lith AA's from a failing company. Unfortunately, I got the last seven packs. No more in the forseeable future. I'd keep checking Zbattery, or call them to see if they anticipate any similar deals in the future.

I don't know which one to get.

About 2 weeks ago I had the chance to buy a box of 200 Duracell DL123's (not Ultra's) dated 1999 for $101.50 + shipping. It would have been about $110 total. That's about 50c a piece. But my wife would have killed me if I spent that much $$ on batteries. If anyone would want to go into the box with me: say 3 other people who want 50 batteries I could see if she still has the batteries available. The 50 batteries would cost around $25-26 + actual shipping to you.

If that 1999 figure is correct, and since lithiums are normally postdated by nine or ten years, that means these batteries were manufactured around 1989 or 1990, are already 3 years past their post date and are at least 12 years old!
Even if they were free they would be a bad purchase. Why on earth would you want to buy them?

I guess looking back on that, it REALLY looks like a dumb question. Let me rephrase it. I know the 223 is not a round battery like the 123, but is it effectively 2 123s side by side? Can I carefully cut the case and get them apart or is it all one battery in there?

These were being auctioned at eBay and I reread the listing and it says they were purchased new in 1999. She has auctioned several boxes over the past month. I e-mailed her a few weeks ago and at that time she still had a couple of boxes left. I didn't think to ask what the expiration date was.

I called Zreiss a few weeks ago when I realized that you couldn't get into the website and I spoke to Charlie he told me it was temporary. If I needed to place an order to call

He said that they are still selling to the public and would continue to do so.

Also, not only will you get (at least I have) post-dates of 2011, but Surefire dates its 123A's every 2 months!To my knowledge, this is unique among battery manufacturers. Surefire does it because very fresh batteries are crucial for its target customers: swat teams, special forces and other professionals
I use Surefire lithiums for all my "emergency" lights, including my EDC lights (which are all lithium except for the ARC AAA LE HA. For non-critical lithium needs I'll use whatever is cheapest.

they also have minimum 9 dollars for shipping which brings the actual cost up to 3.25 a battery. im going to call zreiss tommorow and put in my order if they let me. I believe 48 with shipping is around 60 dollars total if their prices are still the same. even if you were to get double the runtime from surefires your still getting a better deal on the sanyos. surefire batteries are way over priced.
