Hello All

I have been lurking for awhile now and am showing signs of flashaholism. I have become obsessed with tailswitches. Is there a clickie solution for a SL 1L/2L twin task? Is there a clickie for a Mag Solo? Where's the best source for clickie tailcaps?

Thanks for your help
LR

Welcome to CPF! I'm not sure about the SL 1L/2L, but for a Maglite AA you can use either Kroll switches or RAM ones. Is the Mag AA the one you are referring to as a Solo?

Welcome aboard, Loaded! I believe that a 5/8-27 (or is it 28) threaded hole will accommodate a Kroll clickie. It's a job for mill or lathe as those taps are expensive.

I'm no machinist so other members will have to provide the bloody details for this mod.

Thanks for the replies.
I thought the SL 1L/2L might be a involved mod. I have researched it to the best of my abilities with no luck. Pardon my shorthand. When I said solo,I meant solitaire. I haven't been able to find anything on that either. I had seen reference to the kroll tailswitch. Where can you purchase them?

I really enjoy the forum. I'm starting to think about modding one of my old maglights. Maybe 10 or 12 leds and I could stack up 20 or 30 button cells and ........

I don't have your answers, but I am curious as to why you would rather have the click switch on the tail end as opposed to the head end? Just curious. From my ergonomic reasoning I would think that only individuals who use the light for tactical operations would actually prefer the switch on the tail end.

Hi LR and welcome to CPF.

McGizmo has done a mod like you're talking about to a Xenergy flashlight which I think may be a Nuwai made light like the Streamlight Twin Task 1L and 2L.

McGizmo clickie mod of TT2L type of flashlight

I like the idea of using the tailcap mounted clickie to turn the light on and off and the side mounted clickie to determine the mode of output, such as: 3 LED, 6 LED or Incandescent.

Many find the cycling through of the modes interrupted by "offs" to be annoying.

McGizmo is a fantastic modifier and custom light builder. He can be found on the Custom and Modified Forum here.

PS: You can find Kroll switches here:

Thanks to all for the replys and welcomes

As BC0311 mentioned,I don't like cycling through the different modes everytime I use the light. To date my favorite light is a SL Scorpion and I've just gotten used to the tailswitch and the momentary function.

Britt
Great information, Thanks. I'll check out McGizmo.

Had another idea. Anyone know if I could use the tailswitch assembly from a SL TL2 / TL3?

Thanks LR

Unfortunately, he's not doing this mod anymore when I checked with him. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Anyone else can do it as I'm getting a XenErgy (it's currently on sale /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif - http://www.shoplifestyle.com/store/product.asp?pf_id=4659&source=ntrcs )

Flashlight, you might check over on

and see if any of the modders there would be interested in doing this for you. Money is a powerful pursuader. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
