I dunno, I only really clean 'em when they get really dirty. It's not like they have scheduled baths or anything.
but what would you have as a side?
You can clone a pet. Or even a person if it's ever allowed. It'll look the same, but it won't really be them. Of course if we ever find a way to move the consciousness from a dying body into a new one then that won't be the case. That kind of technology is way in the future. But I do think we'll know how to slow, stop, even reverse aging fairly soon. That accomplishes pretty much the same thing.

The nuance. Technology can (and usually does) become the pinnacle of human arrogance. The tower of Babel comes to mind, as does the accounting of Moses vs. Pharaoh's "magicians".

Technology has done more to improve the human condition than any other thing we've invented. While one shouldn't place blind faith in technology think where we would be without it.

You might not realize it, but your statement is evident of self worship. This is an observation, because we didn't "invent" technology, any more than we "invented the laws that govern the universe." We see, we learn, we apply. Being able to harness and apply those laws is a gift, but we have to remain humble about it. The human condition has not improved at all, we just suffer for a little bit longer than we used to.
**added: when it boils down to it, my natural self gets very upset when people steal my ideas. It's been happening ever since I got a smartphone. Then I step back and think about it, even if the idea came to me first, was it ever really mine?
My natural, prideful self wishes that all those stolen ideas would at least mention me in a footnote for the concept.
My spiritual self reminds me that nothing I have comes from me, and this life I have is a gift for my sake, but for another purpose.
I still struggle with the whole ego/humility thing, and I tell you, it's a steep, uphill battle. I welcome chastisement, as it serves as a humbling reminder that I am loved, and that someone cares enough to offer corrective action.
