FS: Two Brand new modded 3D Maglites with Cree XP-G-R4 @ 1.4A.

The first 2 have sold! If you'd like one, PM me to reserve one. I'll have 2 more avilable late next week.

Parts:
-3D Maglite host (Black & Pewter)
-D - DHS HAIII Heatsink (modded to fit XPG)
-XP-G R4 (From Nailbender) on 8mm board
-AMC 7135 Driver @ 1.4Amps (3.6v-4.5v)
-Artic Alumina Epoxy used to mount XPG
-Artic Alumina used between heatsink and Mag body
-Spring slightly stretched to accomidate flat cells
-Glass Lens is also included

These are great new maglites that I just built. No corners cut when making them. I've sold quite a few 3D and 1D P7 modded Mag's here in the past and have excellent feedback from selling those. Based off JTR's Testing a XPG-R5 puts out ~440 lumens @ 1.4A. R4 bin is about 5% less than that. So this XP-G, R4 should be putting out about 420 lumens @ the LED.

Are these still focusable? Would love to see a small tight
hotspot.

What type of cells should be used?

The Pewter is yours Sarge.
I'd like to know a little more first.

Yes they are still very focusable. They throw a good 100 yards easy when focused to a spot.

Regarding what cells should be used... You can use either Alkaline or Ni-mh cells. I run eneloop AA's with D adaptors in them.

Just an FYI, but based on playing with a couple of Malkoff's XPG drop-ins, they beat the pants off a Cree XR-E R2 behind an aspheric.

Re: 2x 400 Lumen 3D Maglite's with Cree XP-G R4 @ 1.4A

 Since you're OK with it Kid9P I'll take the Pewter!

These should focus and the voltage is good for primary or for NiMH cells.
These big AccuEvolution LSD's I have should work well.

EDIT: Been trying to post this for better than 10 minutes but my WiFi is killing me! Must be a lot of microwaves being used nearby.

Also thought I'd mention that if you +$20 then I'll throw in an FM Aluminum MOP (more of a Light OP IMO) reflector that helps smooth out the beam to perfection. Same reflectors that FM sold here for $25+ shipping.

It's a deal! :paypal:

I can swap between the 2 based on what I need.

Thanks. Also I'll mention that for $5 extra I'll throw in 4x AA to D Eneloop Adaptors.

The Pewter is sold, but I still have the black Mag avilable! :) Bettery hurry!

I don't think you can make one of these cheaper than what you are selling them for! Excellent deal.

So if one of these adaptors is used, what do you use for the extra space in the tube? Dummy cells?

Re: 2x 400 Lumen 3D Maglite's with Cree XP-G R4 @ 1.4A

How would one of these run on 4 NiMh C cells? Or would 3 D cells be better?

No, you don't need anything else for a spacer. This is what It looks like. You use a regular AA in the case and it extends it to D length and width. The only slight problem you have is the last cell making contact with the spring in the tail cap. An easy solution I use is to put a quarter (25c) at the end of the last cell so it makes contact with the spring. :p

You want to keep the voltage <4.5v. So 4C cells is probably not a good idea. I'd recommend using 3x NiMh or 3x D Alkaline cells with this light. Thanks.

Re: SOLD: 2x 400 Lumen 3D Maglite's with Cree XP-G R4 @ 1.4A

Wow, these are really nice. Runtime on my three 10,000mAh LSD D-Cells would be fantastic. Let me know if you make some more, OK?
What kind of runtime are you getting with the adapters?

Re: SOLD: 2x 400 Lumen 3D Maglite's with Cree XP-G R4 @ 1.4A

These should be regulated for a while then start to slowly dim out over a long tail IF I remember the 7135 correctly.

The 10,000 LSD will be excellent but running it on AA's seems like a waste of a big battery tube. Hey, to each their own!
:D
Maybe a couple more could be made?

I'm out of XP-G LED's will need to order some more. I'll try to make a couple avilable next week. Thanks for your interest. :)

With 3xfully charged Eneloops I should get about 70-90 minutes runtime. Plenty of runtime for most uses. Now if your going camping or something, you'd definitly want to use some D cells so you can get 6-7hrs runtime.
