Re: CMG Reactor

I don't think you could easily change the LED in the Reactor or Reactor III, but CMG has a good return policy, so if the Reactor III you get has that "rotten cat urine green" color, you could send it back, ***** about the color (nicely), and you should get one back with a more pleasant white or bluish-white coloration to its beam.

Re: CMG Reactor

I have not seen one like that in about a year now I think. They are all pretty nice now. 2AA and 3AA. You can have my 3AA demo model for $20 if you like. It is pretty close to new looking.

Re: CMG Reactor

The differences between a "rotten cat urine green" Luxeon and a white or bluish-white one happen at the Lumileds factory, where they make Luxeon Star LEDs. One CPF member came up with the term "Luxeon lottery", and that pretty much says it all. So it's kind of a crapshoot as to whether a Luxeon Star product will put out a nice white beam, or one that looks like a puddle of yucky old rotten cat **** on a white rug.

Re: CMG Reactor

I have one of the new Reactor 3's and it is warm white which is better outdoors than bluish white. Indoors I prefer bluish white.

If you buy one, be sure to get the newer version because the older ones have switches that stop working. If you get one of those you can get it replaced, but it's better to avoid the hassle.
