Just got this little budget light for around $20 at Walmart. A friend who also works security got one by chance. I went out and bought this same one to test it and thereafter give it to dad who needs something respectable.

This little light, with it's tiny Cree led, throws like a Mag with a good amount of light. It's an honest 90 lumens with great spill. I've been playing with it for the last two hours. Anyone know if this thing is regulated? I haven't noticed any dimming.

That Coleman is a great budget light! Not sure if it's regulated or not. (Sorry) I had one but I left it in the Locker-rooms at work and it grew legs and ran-away... :( I replaced it with a Fenix E-20 but I still miss that little Coleman. Enjoy!

I've got a similar one with the Red+Green 3mm LED tacked on. That one's not regulated, although there is a resistor to decrease current flow.

My friend was impressed with my Energizer Lithium single AA light, and wanted an LED light that compared to it. I showed him these and out of the various Coleman LED lights it looked like this one was the best buy. The light has a nice tight focus and is very bright. Build quality feels really good too. I couldn't get it apart to see if it was regulated, my guess is it isn't.

I have owned a few Coleman MAX models. I still have one (the spot to flood 110 lumen model). But, I returned the others...

Personally, I judge $30 and under lights to the Solarforce L2... For $23.99, I can get a solarforce light with an R2 drop in sent to me from Hong Kong. Every time I am tempted by a $20-something light - I mentally compare irt in my mind to a Solarforce.... For the money, I'd rather get another solarforce...

Admittedly, the convenience of walking into wal-mart and buying a light on the spot is nice... And you can easily return it if ya don't like it... But, I still prefer the SOlarforce...

I have a grey Solarforce L2 with the 4.2-8.4 volt R2 drop in on the way from itc_shop right now. I hear a lot of good things about these lights. The thing is my friend would want to use mine, and probably wouldn't want the wait. Who knows though, once he sees that he may find that he needs one of those as well :grin2:. The only thing I'm starting to regret is not getting the lower voltage drop in, I think I should have just stepped up to the 18650 batteries instead of planning on using on the shelf cr123's.

I only use regular 123s - but I also keep about 25-30 on hand all the time.

Lowe's carries 2 packs of Surefires for $4.99. After years of buying $5.95 energizers, that's like 1/2 price to me. So, I don't mind so much...

Does the 110 lumen model possess the same throw as this 90 lumen model? I'll tell you, I've been playing and comparing this little cheapy at work with my more expensive lights, and I'm more won over by this little thing than ever. And the beam has not started dimming one bit. One of the maintenance men tonight was admiring the throw. He couldn't believe it was the little Coleman light until I showed it to him.

They're very similar, the 110 is adjustable, and the head is larger. I would imagine they have the same LED, just a bigger reflector, and adjustable. The 110 model probably looks very similar to the 90 lumen model when fully focused. The 110 model is 8 bucks more locally. I wouldn't really want to pay that just to have an adjustable beam.

I personally have not tried that 90 lumen model.

I tried the 115 lumen model, and I returned it. The 110 model was noticeably brighter.

My Solarforces are all much brighter than any of the Colemans I have tried, though.

The only Coleman that does interest me is that 6 AA model. It's got a much larger reflector - I'm just curious of the throw on that one. I think it is rated 132 or 135 lumens.
