Collecting mindset ?

I'm a little new to this and am trying to understand some things.

I do think that flashlights are cool, even fun. I use them often and for different uses - utility, EDC, self-defense. I've ditched some old xenon ones for newer LED models. I'm even a little bit of an electronics nerd. I see them as something of a tool.

I'm trying to "get" what flashaholism is, and the draw to collecting.

People collect stamps, coins, postcards, and other random junk that most people couldn't care less about. I think every person is just wired differently so don't frustrate yourself trying to figure out "why". There is not necessarily a "why" to your question, just "it is what it is".

I will say that, while I don't consider myself a flashlight collector, I can appreciate those who do because they are tools and can be useful, unlike some old stamp.
