Here's a sale at Buy.Com. 1 gig for $60, 512meg for $38, shipped, after rebate. I'm tempted to get a spare card /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I just bought the 512 meg card. I presently have a 256 card..

Bart, your camera should say in the manual when you get it.
Or, www.steves-digicams.com might have alittle chart on it.

On your highest settings, your pics may hit 3 meg each, but, most all cams are diff, so its hard to tell. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Bart, a very rough rule of thumb is the image will be about half the number of pixels. With your 4M camera, each image will be about 2M using the least compressed jpeg format. In Canon terminology that would be Large, Superfine. More compression or lower resolution will reduce the file size. If you use raw or tiff, files are huge.

I would wait a bit longer. Just now NAND FLASH chip prices (the memory chip in the CF card) are dropping like a stone as other suppliers come on line. For the past several years, Samsung has had this territory to itself (70% share) with toshiba a small second source. Now most of the big players are coming into this market and the prices will come down further.

And on the new Canon 1Ds Mk II @ 16.7 megapixels, even raw (.cr2) files should approach/exceed 10MB (which will convert to 50MB TIFF files on your PC).

Unbelievable. I recall those high prices too. I recall paying 50 bucks for 256 k chips for my tandy 1000rl.

I want to get a thumb drive myself or something like it with a usb plug on it. Seems they are used by profs and a few students at VCU. ALl systems have usb drives at VCU.

I had entertained buying a bigger card for my palm m125, but I dont use the 16 or so megs I have already.

I rememebnr waiting for the price to drop to $80.00 for 16k.
I also rememebr paying $2500.00 for my first 5 Mb hard drive. I then sold it at retail...
