If I click on the link that you posted it instantly starts the download of the files.
I dont get a web page, just a dialogue box asking if to "save" or "open" (ie run) the files.
Your internet options may be set to block downloads and auto installs (In terms of security this is probably a good thing)

This is getting stranger and stranger
Object Handler errors normally relate to a pc not having the required programs to run/display a certain file type.
For example, you click on a .pdf (Adobe Acrobat) file but don't have Acrobat reader installed, so the file can't be displayed.
This shouldn't apply in your situation as you are trying to download and run an .exe (executable) file.
I suppose it could relate to your original/main problem, the pc doesn't have enough free ram to actually install Ad-Aware.
Just making educated guesses
here, Anyone else want to jump in with an idea ?

What web browser are you using?
If you are using Netscape, try holding down shift and clicking on the link you posted - you should be prompted to save the file.

I dont think this is a spyware issue tho. Please, do use the ad-aware, I'm sure you'll find quite alot of stuff on there that you didn't expect and its only to your benifit to clean them out. It's just that you posted this:
"127.45 mb availible mem is 2.9 mb total virtual mem is 2 gb availible is 1.75 gb 42.9gb C drive 4.61 gb used"
If that virtual mem rating does not include physical, (MS may have scrounged things up for ME) then "1.75 gig available from 2gb" means .25gig used, Thats 256MB above and beyond the 127MB of pysical ram thats currently used.
I really don't think that any amount of spyware is going to eat up quite that much.
So in view of this, another question to ask is how many little icons do you have on the right half of your taskbar just after booting up. The ones on the left are fine. They are just shortcuts, same kind on your desktop. The ones on the right are not. If your not actually using them, they occupy resources without doing much else.
If you can, tell us what they are..
For instance, I have: 8
Tiny personal Firewall,
Local Area Connection,
Volume control,
ATI Screen Control,
Proxomitron,
Mother Board Monitor,
Sonique,
TaskManager.
Those icons generally represent programs that have loaded into your computers memory even though your not actually using hem right now. Removing them does not prevent you from using them later. It just prevents them from crowding out the programs you really do want to use right now.
If you have MS Office installed, try telling it not to 'start with windows'. If you have bearshare, weather cast, etc.. Ask your self if they really are needed down there right now, and if not, remove them as well. By remove them, I mean to tell it not to "start with windows" and not "Uninstall". If you are unclear as to what I mean, DONT DO ANYTHING until you ask more questions!!
A better solution may be for you to have someone you trust get some extra memory and install it for you. I just ordered a 768MB RAM for a Web Developer at my work and the 256MB sticks were just $45 a piece. A extra 128MB ram shouldn't be more than $20 or $30, I would imagine.
I don't know what you are trying to do that requires 384MB of memory, but if your machine routinely operates with lots of virtual mem used, it will seem to run much faster after you do an upgrade.

The icons are: volume, hotkey setup, and monitor. There was also another one but that program was uninstalled.
For the above download it says I need a viewer. It then give an option to find a viewer but that doesn't work either.

As Brian said, spyware is probably not the cause of your problem (although its always good to get rid of it)
Did you install any new software or change any settings just prior to the "Insufficient Memory" error starting to occur ?

Normally when I try to dowload things I get what looks like a torn piece of film almost at the end of the download. Therefore, I can't download anything. The web browser I'm using is Internet Explorer. Thanks everyone for your continued help.
Torn film icons normally mean some type of multimedia file (mpeg, quicktime etc) can't play, this is usually due to the fact that you don't have the correct playback software (quicktime player, latest version of media player etc)
Are you using Internet Explorer or Netscape ?, Is it the latest version.
I would suggest running "windows update" this will check your system and update any operating system files, drivers and some Microsoft software components - notably Media Player and If I remember correctly Internet Explorer as well.

Here's a link to Microsoft's Download Page, You can get the latest versions of just about all Windows components.

We need someone with a bit more O/S expertise than myself.
Oh ok one last stab at it, have you tried booting into safe mode ? See if you get the same problems opening applications and downloading files (well if you have net access in safe mode)
If you do get the same problems in safe mode it's normally a bad sign and you end up having to re-install your operating system
PS If memory serves, I think you have to press F8 during the Windows ME splash/boot-up screen to enter safe mode

Memory--(IE Ram) this is what your computer uses to think. You have 128 Mb installed. You can use hard disk space as "virtal memory" but it is not the same thing, that's why it's called "virtual memory."
Hard disk space--This is where your programs and files are stored.
So....how much hard disk space do you have? I am not sure--but I have a feeling that your problem is hard disk space and not memory.
