I just finished installing a new hard drive however, when I turned the computer back on, I got a message that the hardware had changed and Windows must be reactivated in 3 days. When I went to reactivate windows, it said that the number of times windows could be activated had been exceeded. There's a toll free number I could call but I wonder if anyone else had gotten this before and what they've done to get through it.

Any help? I'm not buying another copy of Windows XP

i just finaly installed winxp ,man i hope i dont go thru that hassle but id just call em and tell em pc,s are my hobby and im always updateing

You won't have to buy a new copy. Just call and tell them that you upgraded the drive and they will give you a new number to type in. It's pretty painless.

Yeah, just call the number like Fitz said and they will give you a new number to put in.

Ok, I did that; works now. Thanks for all of your help

P.S. The voice reconizing thing was kind of wierd to use though.

Anyway, my new drive is a Hitachi Deskstar 160GB. Anyone use/have experience with this brand?
Any good?
