hello all, incredible site with loads of info. However, a little worried now that my recent upgrade might not be one! just bought a cree r2 lamp (from china) for my incan Z2! specs say 290 lms (not expecting that at all!) have i just been robbed? i was hoping for an upgrade to LED without probs, any recommendations very much appreciated. best.

First of all :welcome:

In answer to your question, you may not have been robbed, but it most likely won't live up to 290Lm, that'd be the emitter rating at optimum conditions at an emitter level, not taking into account flux loss due to reflector/lenses etc...

You'll wanna check out this thread... http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=217252 its a stick at the top of the LED forum... Very useful...

For a Z2, I'd recommend a Malkoff Dropin from http://www.malkoffdevices.com/ really can't recommend them highly enough... An M60 or M60L are 230 and 170Lm respectively... Great regulation and wonderful useful beams...

Hope that helps a little...
Cheers

There have been a large number of threads recently about folks wanting to convert their z2 to LED.

+1 on Malkoff Devices. I've replaced all of my Surefire P60/P61/P90/P91 lamp assemblies with Malkoff dropins.

Kestrel has given links to numerous existing threads on this topic. Rather than duplicate things further, please continue in one of those, and I'll close this one.
