Sorry guys. You'll have to keep the language clean, I'm bringing my 8 year old.

Controversial!

Welcome indeed to the little Sir or Madam.

Does that mean I can bring my 11 year old Son? He and your 8 year old might be the most mature peeps there!

But I think they should bring their own torches!

I can mostly bring some older styles, of mainly historical interest: a Flik-Lite, (it even works properly! ('though I live in fear of!)), and a TL-2 for example.
Plus my cute classic, a 2002-era Teardrop E2e - with the GM finish removed to make it straight Aluminum.
(Why did I ever do that? I love – if matching – the SF Gunmetal and Silver-Grey shades.

But my beloved sculpture, the iconic Silver 3D Maglite, is all choked-up with Duracell Alkaleaks at the moment so can't be shown out).

When you're all packing examples to bring to the meet, please err towards the BRING MORE rather than TAKE LESS side of things.
I'm looking forward to seeing the more modern stuff, bring myself up to the 21st Century!

Actually, I can't bring my 11 yr old on Saturday - so I'll just bring Blueled and lightlover.

lightloveer, Nyctophiliac was talking about people not lights. His 11 yr old is not a Maglite...

Sorry couldn't resist

I tend to pack light these days, as the older I get the less I feel like carrying. I'm intending to bring the TM06, MMU-X3R, DC25Cvn and a couple of lanterns, plus I'm sure a few more bits. If anyone wants any lights in my review list to come along, let me know and I'll see what I can do. Just follow the 'latest reviews' link in my signature for the list.

Ooh, can you bring the Four Sevens CR2 bolt thingy (the BLR 2 I think) and also the 3AAA Maglite.

Cheers.

You did done nearly got me there!
It could have been even worse: I first wrote that I was going to bring "my 15-year old, Maglite", but deleted that, thinking it sounded a bit *confused* in the context.

subwoofer, as you suggested, I looked at your list of reviews, and in addition to those you mention – in alphabetical order – these:

  1. ArmyTek Barracuda
  2. Fenix TK15 S2
  3. Fenix TK22
  4. Fenix TK32
  5. FOURSEVENS Bolt-Action
  6. FOURSEVENS MMU-X3R
  7. JETBeam DDA10
  8. LUMINTOP ED20-T
  9. Maglite XL200
  10. NITECORE TM11 'Tiny Monster'
  11. Niteye MSC20
  12. Olight S30R
  13. Rustu R64S
  14. Streamlight Knucklehead Spot
  15. UltraFire 9T6
  16. UltraFire UF-T90
  17. Xtar S1

I'll let you know if there's anything else . . . .

Seriously, all those lights look interesting!
But if you can't bring them all, please show some with modern UI's and different switching features.
(And remember that to me, anything less than 10 years old is new!).

Subwoofer, was there an obvious pun - "pack light these days..." which I completely ignored?

(tumbleweed)

Anyway - I'm bringing my new lights since last meet:

Peak Eiger Turbo (10440)
Armytek Partner A1 (AA)
NItecore SRT3 (AA/14500/CR123A/18350)
Inforce Colour (2 x CR123A/17670)
Sunwayman D20A (2 x AA)
Surefire Outdoorsman EL2AA (er...2AA)

plus I might bring my old Laser Products Surefire 6P with an incandescent bulb to see how long it will last in the caves.

Just enough time to charge more batteries than I can possibly use in one day. Such is the life of a Flashaholic.

See you all tomorrow. Reigate Tunnel Road West. one to two O'clock.

...ish.

I only have the Nitecore EA41 and DQG lights that are new and petrev already trumped me on those. Planning on getting there around 12.30 - 1.00.

I'm definitely aiming for 2ish rather than earlier. If we are staying until it gets dark this will be around 10 pm or later for 'proper dark' before we even get going in the park.

I'm also looking to park to the south of town, near Reigate Priory Park, which Lee kindly pointed out is open 24 hours, and is nearby. This way, heading back to the car is heading towards the park instead of in the opposite direction.

I have relocated South to Parkgate St.
Plenty of parking in vicinity. Pub, great chip shop, and Park as mentioned.

See you all soon . . .

Update for Jay:

DQG Spy arrived while I was away - Lovely bit of Ti machining but with no optics it is a pure flood.
The DQG Hobi is not as pretty in some ways, but cheaper even in Ti, and has a nice beam thanks to the optic.

Just my preferences of course . . .

I think I'm with you on that. The Hobi has the edge over the others just for the sake of the optics. The GID O ring is an added extra.
My son had a great time. Thanks to all for making him feel welcome.

Don't forget the new motto...

A fantastic meet, and a special thanks to remoteneeded for suggesting the underground location and being our tour guide!

While waiting for the main tour we had a quick look at some of the smaller areas starting with an old wine cellar (unfortunately not stocked).

01%20Wine%20cellar%20P1070917.jpg

Then onto the rest-room facilities provided (only during WWII of course!!)

02%20gents%20P1070918.jpg

After mining stopped the tunnels were used for dumping old beer barrels. All that remains of these are the rusted barrel bands.

03%20rubbish%20barrell%20bands%20P1070920.jpg

Pillars and stall mining was used.

04%20tunnels%20P1070925.jpg

More pillars and stalls.

05%20tunnels%20P1070931.jpg

The walls are covered in old graffiti.

06%20tour%20guide%20and%20dated%20wall%20P1070933.jpg

Our fantastic tour guide for the tunnel road caves. (yes he is wearing a helmet, we aren't)

07%20our%20guide%20P1070939.jpg

'Cave art'.

08%20graffiti%20P1070940.jpg

In places you can see how thin the chamber walls are (where they have broken through). This is just compressed sand, NOT even sandstone.

09%20thin%20wall%20P1070943.jpg

A bit if brickwork helping keep the roof up.

10%20tunnels%20P1070948.jpg

At this point we relocated to the Barons' Cave.

11%20barons%20P1070955.jpg

These tunnels look very different to the Tunnel Road Caves.

13%20group%20distance%20P1070962.jpg

What is this lurking in the gloom?

14%20rex%20P1070969.jpg

It really was a candlelit tour.

18%20ton%20explained%20P1070982.jpg

At the end of this tunnel is the oldest written date in the caves.

19%20tunnel%20P1070986.jpg

Actually when you know where to look it is easier to read from a distance.

21%201644%20P1070999.jpg

And a closer look at the 1644 carved into the wall.

21%201644%20closer%20P1070999.jpg

Lighting the way back...

22%20last%20tunnel%20P1080001.jpg

And off to look at what was above our heads when underground.

23%20outside%20P1080015.jpg

The impressive pyramid which one of our band compared to their own bed covers in the morning ;-)

24%20the%20pyramid%20P1080017.jpg

Having exhausted the underground explorations, we retired to the pub for refreshments before venturing out to play with lights.

25%20trying%20out%20thrower%20P1080035.jpg

And a bit of light writing.

26%20CPF%20UK%20P1080028.jpg

Our light show attracted alien visitors who came to see what we were doing.

27%20visited%20by%20aliens%20P1080031.jpg

Amongst them a two headed alien.

28%20two%20headed%20lee%20P1080023.jpg

Some form of alien craft arrived to take them away.

29%20Alien%20spacecraft%20arrives%20P1080033.jpg

Suddenly we were alone again (apart from the rabbits and foxes).
