What's the durability of energizer/duracell CR123a batteries?

I've had my duracells stop working after taking a fall in a light & I don't think that's normal.

So are Surefires more durable?

In general all batteries may be damaged by mechanical shock. Lithium cells are not the only kind of battery vulnerable to this.

Strictly speaking, a "rugged" light should contain springs and/or shock absorbers to cushion the batteries in the event the light is dropped. Few or none of them actually do (except maybe Maglites), probably on the basis that the batteries are replaceable. But in general, don't drop your lights onto a hard floor.
