Hello, this is my first post. I just heard about this forum yesterday. So i stop by to have a look and to see if i could get some suggestions on what type of light will fit my needs. I am wanting the most lumens i can get out of a flashlight that uses only CR123 batteries. I was really wanting a small EDC light. So I thought a flashlight with a single CR123 would be best for me. I have been doing my homework, But there are just to many companies out there. I was thinking about an EagleTac D25C clicky. Or Sunwayman has a nice one as well. I really dont need all kinds of modes on it. If it comes with them, im not shying away from them. But all i need is a high, and low. And i would really like the have one that has the magnetic adjuster for the power. I am a semi driver that needs really good clean light to pre check my trailers before i get onto the roads and put myself or anyones else in danger if something is hanging from the semi and i dont see it because my flashlight was not up to par. Anyway could you please help me with this situation. I dont have to have the cheapest light or most exspensive. I just want the best i can get, no matter the cost. Thank you for your time.

I collect lights and my preference is AAA and AA but my next may be of use to you.I have hunted high and low and so many choices but i fancy this one

Klarus P1C CR123

245 on high and 20 on low no messing about with the James Bond strobe etc.

Cracking review on You Tube and beam shots look good.

I nearly bought the Nitecore MT1C but i like the simple Klarus better.

Welcome to CPF!

Jetbeam BC10 has 270 lumens on a single CR123.

I would also like to recommend:

FourSeven Mini ML-X which has 210 lumens (very small format to carry around, ridicolously small!)

and

Olight i1 @ 180 lumens (a bit cheaper)

Enjoy!

Sunwayman V11R or V10R (V10R Ti is the titanium version). Simple UI, control ring. Relatively inexpensive. The Ti version is gorgeous.

I carry an HDS every day and it is the best (for me). I like the clicky versions but they have the Rotary version for adjusting brightness. The problem with HDS is availability. The only place I know that has them (and only the clicky) is goinggear, and they are cerakoted (but beautiful!).

Good luck with your search and welcome to CPF!

I would buy a Malkoff Turn Key Hi-Lo if my work relied on it.
I am not sure how you can kill one and they just do the job with nothing to really remember about modes and things you might not need.

If you may use a Strobe, which I can see too The D25C Clicky are great and not too confusing to learn either.
I like the Magnetic Control Ring lights in concept but I don't think I would want to count on one as my main light in the dark on a lonely road.

I use an HDS every day too but also carry Surefire or Malkoff and have needed them before too!

The Xtar Meteor is popular for what you describe, as its built like a tank, takes a single RCR123, pumps out 500 lumens on high, with a medium and low. It does come with a beacon and a strobe mode though...but the truckers I know use that when on the side of the road so cars don't run their legs over, etc. It has a magnetic base...so you can just STICK IT to the side of a truck or car to hold the light on what you want, plus it comes with a chain and lobster claw, so you can also hang it as needed, etc.

If you get it from MD-Lightsource and tell them you don't want the beacon or strobe, etc, they have been disabling it for people on request.

i really like my eagltac d25c (xm-l) clicky, it puts out 550 OTF lumen using a 16340 and 277 OTF lumen using a regular cr123. this little thing is a beast, by far the brightest cr123 flashlight. i also recommend d25c mini (xp-g2), olight i1, 4sevens mini-x.

i got the maglite tactical. 320 lumens uses 2 cr123 batteries i like it i just wished the lens was glass

Nitecore EC1. 280 Lumens max (probably more on rcr 123). Incredibly small and excellent interface. I am very happy with this light.

I'm going to second the sunwayman V11R, it has a magnetic controll ring like you specify, nice and small, ISN'T BLACK, starts in whatever mode you choose and you can get an extender/adapter to keep in your truck for emergencies- you can then run it on any CR123/16340, or AA Primaries, lithium primaries/14500's you can find.
