Just looking to replace my old PT Matrix (dog chewed it up)

I'd like it to run on CR123s, just so I can standardize my batteries. LED is preferred, and I'd like it to hold the batteries and everything in the front (I don't like the battery pack in the back, I know, picky picky)

TIA :)

PT Apex Pro (2x123) - I have one and it  (it does have the batt-pack in the back, though, but it's so small and light I don't notice it)

Nuwai HLX-712L from amondotech.com. Do a search on 712L and you'll find the headlamp on sale for $27.50 + 8 free CR123A.

Can run on 3.0V or 3.6V Li-Ion's.

My personal favourite headlamp!

The Streamlight Argo HP and PT Apex Pro are others that I know of and both arevery good too.

Does anyone know the minimum voltage requirement on the Apex Pro? I was thinking it would make an ideal single battery drainer with a dummy 123 if it would power the low setting. Anyone want to try this?

I currently have the AA Apex, and it's a winner if you can deal with the weight. The lowest level is perfectly usable for walking a trail. The white on my Apex Lux III is almost as white as on my HDS U60XRGT, but the beam is a little artifact-y (compared to the HDS -- a high bar indeed!). I assume this isn't OT, since the light itself is supposed to be the same on both models.

Inova 24x7 use a single cell CR123 that has a headlamp strap. It has multiple modes of operation and a rotary faceplate switch.

The Apex Pro may a good option,
the question is - would 2 RCR 123 fit ? or is the voltage too high ?

anyone knows ? :candle:

I got my argo HP in about a week ago. I've been using it around the house for various things. I can tell you already, you can't go wrong with this headlamp. It's solid.

I wasn't aware the Nuwai could take rechargeables!? :) I've been just using primaries in it. It's a great headlamp.
