Hey all, I just noticed this tailcap has a crack when the spring assembly fell out of the body! I haven't used this cap in over a year, and when I did it wasn't for very long. So, I have no clue why it broke. Anyway, I did some searching around, and people are saying the tailcap is trash once this breaks. Is that true? I need to replace the whole thing because that stupid little piece of cheap plastic cracked? :faint:

Surefire has long since upgraded the design of this switch to address these issues. Contact them for an RMA, they should send you the upgraded one with the black plastic internals.

Mine did that too. Probably a bad run of plastic parts. Called surefire and they replaced it without a hitch. Gotta' love the warranty they provide.

Ok, thanks for the info. I'll call first thing monday about that! Feeling much better now, thanks!

its not the plastic that has the issue, its the design that created a weak joint.

the whole clicky assembly was seated by three very short plastic locks rooted as the white plastic. When it fails, its often catastrophic...but, as long as all the components are on hand, they can be stuffed into a light and still operate normally, but you'll have to reassemble the Z57 by hand each time you do a battery swap.

the newer Z57s has a locking collar over it instead of plastic pieces, which is quite secure:grin2:

Cool, I didn't even think of that. Thanks for the tip, Illum!
