My friend bought CT Zero flashlight and he got it today. He asked me, He is wondering the MagCharger headlamp or MagCharger LR00001 bulb can fit in CT Zero?

He wanted modify the CT Zero into higher lumen rate.

Let me know thanks!

i believe the zero has a plastic reflector right? (i don't personally have one, but someone mentioned it did...)

if so, then a better bulb would likely cause it to melt /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

But, Rothrandir; what about all those M*gMods folks are doing with Carley's, Welch Allans and MR-16s? I believe some of those are using the original M*g reflectors. I think I must have missed something here.

I thought you ModMen professed that anything could be modded...a squash no less.

I should have got a hotlips when I had a chance. I have an Otokoyama organge peel non-cam coming in this weekend that needs a hot kiss.

With these triple Fraens out, surely you must have plans for a sink for a ménage à trois?

Ah I just spoke with my friend. He said it's plastic headlamp. Oh shoot. What is your recommend which headlamp can fitting on CT Zero flashlight? Tigerlight 3 gen., SL-35X or MagCharger headlamp. I gotta find out the size to find out which one can be fitting for CT Zero.

It is the same diameter as a maglite. I dropped a mag UCL lens from flashlightlens.com in mine. I did not fit a mag reflector to mine as it would have been another smooth reflector, ugh. It is about .9 inch from the front of the flange to the back of the hole in the reflector.

The good news is that the stub that the lamp is in is bolted down to the body inside the roomy head. It could be taken loose and a lamp reflector assembly could be installed if one with proper lens diameter is found. Like a magcharger reflector and a modified lamp assembly.

Why not sanding the top of reflector and you said .9 inch.

If you have power tool that sand down .9" and It should allow you fit properly with magcharger headlamp in your CT Zero head.

How it sound?

Unless you was referring the CT Zero headlamp is big than magcharger headlamp. If so. I have other idea using PVC and chop as O ring with .9" height. put MagCharger headlamp inside the CT Zero head then put UCL len in and put .9 O Ring (made by PVC). It should be work?

ice, most mr16's (all?) have built-in reflectors, and a higher bulb can be substituted in a mag reflector, but i am unsure of the limit.

and to be honest, i don't know all that much about incan mods. i realize that ther is a limit to how much heat the mag reflector can take, though i'm uncertain what it is, and what kind of bulbs could deliver that heat.

I see, Roth.

I should also tell you (and other members) that I totally misread an e-mail about the reflectors Otokoyama has selflessly offered to have built...they will not be here this weekend. I faux pased.

I'll bet they'll be pretty cool though.

yes, the should be pretty nice /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

especially nice for super-mods /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

chr00t,

I "think" (relative term) that by the time you cut down the large end of the reflector for depth, the diameter would be too small to clamp. The CT has a nice method of holding the reflector to the lens and bezel by means of an internal threaded ring that traps the rim of the reflector. It would clamp somewhat the round part of any large bowl reflector kind of. It would not allow much focusing as the bezel is somewhat short, maybe .150-.200 inch of useful threaded travel before becoming too wobbly and loose I would fear. That would cause those ugly black donut rings we all love /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif (the overpenetrating lamp and lack of focus). Glueing the works may work if the reflector is small enough to clear the ring and the ring clamps then on the lens. where there is a moto tool and files there is a way. I scrounged until I found a suitable faceted reflector and bobbed the tail off like when doing a Luxeon mag conversion. A boss light might fit but I shattered my reflector trying to get it out of it's bezel. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon23.gif

A metal mag reflector or the above mentioned bulb-reflector would work if it fits with the center post removed for clearance. There is quite a lot of space inside the head.

I read here somewhere that 10-11 watts is the meltdown threshold for plastics IIRC.

I spoke with my friend. He stated that CT Zero reflector is a Alumnium. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif What is your suggest which bulb that has higher rate of lumen as possible 500lumen or 40,000+ candlepower?? I looked Maglite LR00001 and it said 17,500CP /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

CT Zero bulb made by Germany and rated 34,000CP

Let me know!!

that is good news chroot!

like i said...i was told that the reflector was plastic, but maybe that only applied to a certain zero model /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif

i would be very interested in aquiring one of these reflectors whether they are plastic or metal though...

Yes, it is great news. I will ask my friend take a picture of inside the headlamp include reflector to give you idea.

Maybe you was told that CT Zero had plastic reflector and It could be 1st generation? My friend said It really so bright beamshot. I noticed his beamshot has more narrow hot spot similar to Streamlight UltraStinger/SL-35's beamshot look alike. I will ask him give me the picture of beamshot tonight.

I need find out which bulb that can go 500+ lumen and CT Zero has 5 of D NiHM batteries almost exactly like MagCharger style. I found out that I cannot use MagCharger's bulb because of pin socket. Do there have a adapter to allow use MagCharger bulb mount on regular socket similar MagLite style socket?

I wonder can someone do lathe custom the copper socket that allow mount a pin bulb (MagCharger's bulb)? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

My friend sent me the pictures. My friend stated metal reflector. To me, It look sure plastic reflector. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

i would also agree to the plastic because you can see the 4 mold marks near the opening for the bulb

Hello guys, yes the reflector is plastic.
Thank you!
