Cut Down Mag with P7

So like the title says, I want to build a light for my bike. I have previously moded a mag with a P7. I have a couple questions regarding this build.

1. Should I Direct Drive the p7 with 3 d's or chose the regulated path using a shingbeam driver?

I am almost 100% that you will not need full power P7 all the time, so if you DD the led, than you can't regulate the power, so I would go for regulated version. What driver to use is your choice, but I would go for taskled HopFlex.
