I recently bought a Cyclone C88 XM-L T6 3C from intl-outdoor.com. Overall, I like the light. However, it does have one quirk. It works perfectly with the included 3xAA carrier. But when I put in a 26650 (4sevens protected) it won't light with the tailcap tightened down all the way. It only lights if I loosen the tailcap about 3/4 of a turn. This is a concern because I don't plan to run the light on 3xAA except in an emergency (the 3xAA runtime on high is abysmal, even with eneloops). Anybody else have this loose tailcap problem? Or a solution?

You'll need an unprotected cell. That 4sevens cell is just too long. I've got a Cyclone xm-l and feed it only unprotected, it closes all the way on 26650 king kong and imr-26650 mnke.

The 4Sevens 26650 green jacket is too long and has this problem. The 4Sevens 26650 blue jacket works fine. They are both protected cells.

Where can you get the MNKE IMR cell? Intl-outdoor is sold out. They have the King Kong in an INR. I haven't been able to find a good explanation of what the difference is in chemistry. Looks to be unprotected.

My cells are the green jacket variety. I got mine from Going Gear and those are the only ones that they have. Apparently 4sevens is only stocking those now.

The Green jacket was designed for the Maelstrom S12 and the blue jacket was designed for the Maelstrom X10. The green will work in both, but the blue cannot sustain the high drain and turns off immediately.

The solution would be to change it for a slightly shorter spring. The green 4sevens battery should then work without any problems.
