D cells for Terralux?

What D cells would you all recommend for my 4 D cell Maglite with a Terralux TLE-300M-EX drop in? Right now I have a truckload of lousy Duracell D cell alkaline batteries that I got for free but I'd like to get these three LEDs as bright as possible. Maximum brightness is my number one priority, not run time.

I'm looking for suggestions for both rechargeable and non-rechargeable D cell options, if possible.

I have exactly what you have. I use Titanium Innovations 12,000mA D-cells. but for some reason when it statred to dim, one cell was dead and the other 3 were pretty good. not sure why this is.

Thanks for the recommendation Vio765. Do you notice an increase in light output when using the Titanium Innovations D cells versus new run of the mill alkaline D cells?
