D or C cell MCE lights?

Had a thought the other day. If the MC-E lights work well for voltages of up to and around 4.7volts, why are there no MC-E lights that run off of 3 more common cells, like 3XAA or Cs or Ds? Is it just the amount of power that the light would draw that would cause the batteries to fail? Or am I missing something?

There are many 3 cell direct drive P7 and MC-E mods, but I don't recall any for sale.

Alkalines don't like high current, so they will sag in current and won't run the light for too long.

There is one Chinese manufacturer selling MC-E flashlights with single, double or triple LEDs in China. The D cell model accepts 2 x D cells, or 2 x C cells, or 6 x 18650s, or 4 x 18650s or 6 x AAs. The C cell model accepts 2 x C cells or 2 x 18650s.

2xC or 2xD will not drive the MCE at full power. You need 3C/3D for DD or 4C/4D with a buck regulator.
