D10, Defender, or Extreme?

Help Support Candle Power:

If you get a D10 now, you'll probably only find the SP edition that does not ramp but has the 3 presets, SOS and strobe. (unless I'm wrong. I hope not, I just bought one). With this model, you can hold the PD down for like 3 seconds when the light is off and it will lock it so you can't accidentally turn it on.

One reason I got this model instead of the EX10 is because, it uses an AA, it's a little longer so your pinky won't overhang the bezel, you can get accessories like the diffuser and red filter and because I thought the EX10 might be a little small. I'd rather have the ramping model but this is all I could find.

keep in mind, I'm the new guy so I might not know what I'm talking about.

There is a limited run with ramping using the new PD system (see "Hybrid D10s" under "Versions"). Well, you can buy another. :naughty:

I see, so this is how the addiction starts. Ok. I'm in!

I saw that. I was looking for the model that ramps but I couldn't find anyone who sold it. I went as far as contacting Nitecore and they said that a US dealer placed an order for this model and to let her know (Elaine was her name) if I was interested and she would tell me who that dealer was. I emailed back and they said it was BatteryJunction. I emailed them and no one responded so I'm assuming it wasn't them. I got that buy a light itch real bad so I just bought the SP. Oh well. For what I want to use it, I think it will be fine.

I'd like to have a wand like diffuser for candle mode, and the red filter is a must get for when my girlfriend is navigating during night road trips. Now if she would only learn how to read a map!

That's why I got the D10. Unless I'm mistaken, on Nitcore's diffuser and red filter, you can use one or the other or both so you can have a diffused red light. When not in use, you can use the diffuser as a battery storage and the filter serves as a cap. At least that's how I understand it.
