Hi, one of my eneloops got damaged when my LD20 got dropped, the + end of the battery below left a nice imprint in the bottom.

It still works fine, but should I be concerned? Is this enough damage to recycle it?

NiMHs have a backplate on the negative end and they are expected to be dented/scratched by hefty springs, or by dropping them I suppose.

Got a analyzing charger (such as BC-700, Maha MH-C9000, or any of hobby chargers)? Test it's capacity, if it hasn't reduced - keep using it, NiMH's won't set on fire / explode due to damage.

I have several like that. It is mildly annoying, but has had no apparent effect on function.

Got two exactly like yours..... Did some hefty recharge tests while keeping an eye on temperature, doublechecked capacity.... and they are just as good as any other eneloop!

I think if you use them in just about any tool that holds the batteries one in line with another, and said tool has the potential to be dropped such that the batteries land just right (think maglite landing straight up, on it's tail), is going to do that to them.

Mine got beat up like that in a livestock prod, where the eneloops in C-shell adapters proved substantially more powerful than alkaline C cells. That was a tool that got dropped many times.

I wish they would make these things in C and D sizes. T

Thanks guys. Ordered a Maha C9000 along with a new set of AA's and AAA's yesterday (after I've done some reading here, no relation to this thread, I like to know precisely what's going on in my batteries), after some running tests I doubt the overnight charger I got with those is charging them to their full potential anymore.

Most of my Tenergy NiMH C and D cells look like that. It does not seem to be a problem after hundreds of cycles.
