Hi,
last week i forgot my mc-e powered flashlight at work for 10 minutes (power on) above the ceiling in an aircraft...when i came back it was damn hot, almost too hot to touch, so i just switched it off and took it apart to get the heat from the cell (trustfire 18650, 2500 mAh stated capacity)...
Two days ago i had a closer look and put it on low and discovered a black spot during white wall hunting...then i had a even closer look and saw that one of the dies was dead...
So, Guys, don't leave your small bodied lights alone with power on...i couldn't remember if i left it in high, was no big area where i needed light, so i think it medium would have been more than enough.

Is there anything i can do to fix that? I read about a more-voltage-therapy, but how much might do? maybe i'll try that in a couple of days...
Anyways, i might think about getting a new mc-e or even a ssr50...
Let's see ;)
Any Recommendations for a white light led? I have enough of P7s here, and they always seem to have a yellowish tint to me. Btw. Led was driven by a 8x7135 Shiningbeam Driver, which is doing fine still. General Output of the MC-E still looks pretty good, think the other dies should be getting more current now.

Yeah, I too have heard about sending a small pulse of higher-than-normal reverse voltage through the dead die to refill the tunnels. Not sure of the details, though. I'm sure someone will come along with more information.

Fixed mine today...I just took the test power supply and discovered that one die seem to have desoldered itself..however, soldering gun was also ready at this point and i just reconnected it... ;) Wouldn't have happened on a P7, but as i already said, i prefer the mc-e now...even if i spent 1,5 Years with P7 ;) And since yesterday my Akoray K-106 XP-G R5 is running, thats a nice one! :D
