I'm really racking my head for some time now and both lights seems to be taken up extremely fast even in the marketplace.
I like the programmable UI in the HDS but their high CRI version is gone. It's very robust and I like full body gnurlings.
I like the super bright emitter from Macs Custom SST-50 with a warm white temperature. But each time I take a look at his next batches, they seem to be filled up fast as well. To make matters worse, Mac's lights are getting more expensive after each batch--more expensive than HDS now. Although it lacks gnurling, I like the fine details on this light than the HDS.
The pain of wanting something that is in high demand but short on supply. If there was a Flashaholic near Fresno, Ca who would want to relinquish their HDS or SST-50 for $100-$120, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I got an old Lux V Surefire U2 for $100 from a retired aviator mechanic a year ago off Craigslist.
