Greetings,

I have a Deerelight Nightmaster which I use for night cruises on the boat. Folks get a laugh when I pull it out of my pocket, instead of pulling out the typical, large marine spot. Their jaws drop when I illuminate channel markers with it. I've now got a couple friends that want to buy one, but they seem to be non-existent. It looks like the Deerelight web site hasn't been updated since 2007, which leads me to believe they might not even be in business anymore.

Anyone know the scoop with the company? Also, if they're not around anymore, is there an equivalent torch currently being made that's really close in performance to the Nightmaster or Xsearcher? The narrow beam with almost zero spill is perfect for combating night blindness. Standard marine spots have massive amounts of spill, and the reflection off the boat/deck kills night vision.

Thanks!

Wow. Your world is about to be blown. Not by my comment but by some of the stuff you are about to see. Here's a start:

Go to skylumen.com and check out some of vinhs shots of the lights he is working on.

I was a big fan of Dereelight, their P60 light CL1H (still have a Version 1 & 2)
not sure now many drop-in 'pills' & whole drop-ins I got from them,, Alan was always a super nice guy about stuff..

No spill requires an aspheric.
Small amount of spill you need a deep narrow reflector*, not a wide reflector.
>>>Then there are LEP lights

*Like the Dereelight DBS, arguably the first true led thrower
