Nice job slick. What kind of runtime do you think you would get using 2 lithium AA's? Do you think this mod would hold up to a continuous burn of the batteries? I have a princeton tec headlamp I've considered a similar mod on.

I'm currently modding a P-Tec Solo for use as a bicycle helmet light. When I'm done, it will have 4 NiMH AA cells in a remote battery case, an XPR-103 bulb and will be voltage regulated by a LM2621 evaluation board that will be fitted inside the original battery chamber. Should be good for attracting the attention of inattentive drivers. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Great job, Slick! My solution to using an LS for a headlamp, was to buy an Arc LS headlamp mod from Silviron. I got the 4AA series/parallel version for doubled runtimes (14 hours w/lithium AAs).
Given my total lack of shop skills, and almost total lack of tools, it was the easiest way for me to go. Since I am sitting at my computer most of the time, it is way too bright. So I use something alot dimmer, like the Solo with Matrix module.

Nice mod, been wondering if it's possible to safely run an LS in a plastic body.
Seems like you've proven that as long as there is a chunk of Aluminum in there somewhere it's alright.
