Alright once i order the parts for my mini mag. I want to get another light hopefully soon after. I was looking at the G2. Does that have more throw than my L2D-Q5? If not what does for under $100

So the L2D Q5 doesn't have a very good "throw/power/size" ratio? It seems to give alot of lumens with decent runtime...

Throw is mainly due to the reflector size. The L2D Q5 is a helluva bright light, and can outthrow a lot of bigger less bright lights, but if you want real throw, then you'll have to go with a bigger reflector.

Wow thanks forl link to the reviews on those few lights "Lobo" that was a real help.:twothumbs The DX W-600 seems like a real steal price wise.

How good is the SF G2 as a thrower?

Some thrownumbers from the top of my head, lux at 1 meter.

Fenix L2D P4, about 3000
Surefire G2, about 3000
Fenix T1, about 6000
WF 600 about 16 000
Deree DBS about 30 000

The numbers can vary greatly depending on luxmeter, smooth or OP-reflector and different versions(mainly DBS, they have a myriad of different options when it comes to the driver and emitter).

The WF-600 will out throw the Fenix T1 and the G2.

The WF-600 is around 16000 Lux
The T1 is around 6000-7000 Lux
The G2 incan is around 3000-4000 Lux

I guess the WF-600 is more because of the reflector size, though it uses a Q2 bulb instead of the Q5 that the T1 uses. I would have thought the T1 was capable of more lumens.

This makes me wonder about the 3D Mag85 mods, and their ratings. Anyway, the DBS I looked into, but it doesn't seem practical since it's throw is too high. It's hard to look at things when they are superbright at the business end of this.

The Wf-600 has two models one with the Q2, and one with the Q5. I guess i might end up getting the WF-600 with the Q5. Thanks everyone for the help.

The emitter isn't everything, it depends on also how hard they drive it and what kind of batteries, circuitry etc you have. And in real use, you'll hardly notice the difference in output between a couple of bins.

And the numbers stated over are not lumens, they are lux at 1m (that's how you measure throw). Lumens is total output.

So just a guesstimate how many lumens do you think the WF-600 puts out? Also i see now that "Lobo" said it. What exactly is flux? is it the higher the number the farther the light shines?
