Diffusion or optics for LED strip lights?

I had an idea for a neat project using LED strip lights but the light is too focused and I don't have the space needed to diffuse it. Perhaps this is a stupid question but are there optics available for the 5050 LEDs on strips? Alternatively, are there alternative ways of diffusing the light in a short space? They're going into frosted tubes, so it doesn't matter what it looks like.

Wouldn't the frosted tubes provide diffusion? I like to use frosted plastic dividers from office supply stores. There are some diffuser products meant for LED strips.
