direct drive SST -90 ??

what battery for direct drive SST-90 . or combo . I use 2 D cell NMhi for my phatlight 54 red led and it seems to work fine . would that combo work or could I direct drive from 1 26650 Lio battery? Thanks! Mark

26650 will work fine for direct drive. 3x NiMH can also direct drive.

Ok thanks! I built another PT-54 with 3x AA NiMH and it works great thanks! I will try in on my next sst-90 project.

Unless SST90 have changed (lower vf) , 4 x NiMh works well.
Single cell LION or 3 x NiMh tends to only result in around 3-5 Amps.

If you want closer to spec 9A, try 4 x NiMh.
4 x AA Eneloop will probably result in around 6 Amps.

Chodes is correct. I was thinking about the D cells as NiMH. 4x D might be too much. 4xAA is good :)
