Incandescent lights use a small bit of wire inside a glass vial - the wire heats up and starts to glow when a current is passed through it -
Leds come in a few varieties - from standard little 5mm ones to 1,3 and 5 watt luxeon stars (im not too sure how they work though)
Normally a incandescent beam is yellowish white and has a tight hot spot and a bit of a spill beam
the Leds normally have a much larger, dimmer hotspot and are more useful for an area light (they are also very white - almost blue)

I too was unimpressed with the M3 and T configuration. The T didn't throw *that* far and the beam was too narrow. The M3 standard bezel was too weak on the LOLA. The M3reg with HOLA was nice but runtime is too short and price is too high.

Silly silly me...

A plain old P60 driven by 2x123A (or 2xCR2_) is plenty bright for this poor boy!

I can see NO possible WAY I'd EVER have an M3 or M6. (couldn't afford to feed the damn things!)
